I got an inquiry this evening about how to differentiate oneself in business online. Or, as this person said it - how to separate oneself from the pack.
Here's a excerpt from my reply to Brad (thanks for your inquiry Brad!):
You have one thing right - to make a profitable splash online, you differentiate yourself. It's actually great because you don't have to do very much to know how to do that except to look within.
You are a unique, special person that has a voice that will touch certain people. Only you. Once you understand this, all your marketing will flow abundantly from that place.
What I do is help you understand this about yourself, how to value it, and market your gift to the world with integrity so you can stay true to yourself - be truly authentic - and do what you love. When you do what you love, you are in a state of giving, and when you are giving, you can also receive (positive energy in the form of money in return).
There are many voices online, all vying for attention. I recommend you go with your heart / gut in terms of choosing someone to mentor / guide you, and never look back! It could be yourself and your own sweat equity of learning the ropes and making mistakes, etc. or you can invest money and hire a coach to help you navigate the uncertain internet waters.
If you want to work with me, I currently offer consulting at a rate of $XXX/hr, with a 2 hour minimum. As a second or possibly additional option, I recommend getting started with the Empower Network online marketing training system - starting at only $25/month it really can help you get going and get ahead in your journey to become financially free.
I wish you the best of luck and let me know how it goes!
Same goes for all you lovelies out there - please contact me for a private consultation if you would like to work with me.
I totally stole this infographic illustrating the basics of online marketing off of Google Images. I searched for something like "online marketing basics infographic" and this was the coolest one that came up. I love trees.
Before you go thinking I'm a total bum, please notice I left the credit to the original creator at the bottom of the image, even though they are likely my competitor.
I'm giving a talk tomorrow at my Uncle Alan's yoga teacher training retreat about how to use Internet Marketing to promote your yoga business.
I've decided that rather than go in and try to front like I'm some big expert in the area of promoting a yoga business via social media and other online outlets, I'm going for honesty and am going to admit I really don't know jack squat about it... other than what I know about promoting ANY business on the internet. I think the basics are the basics and can be applied to any business.
After a whirlwind tour of California from Hawaii and now being in Florida over the past 3 weeks, I'm really not in any condition to try and re-invent the wheel. Doing so, in my book, is a killer for businesses anyway. If there is one piece of business advice I could give anyone... wait, OK, I need to give TWO pieces of business advice:
How about you? Got any gold nuggets of business or marketing knowledge you can share with us? Post as comments below.
I'll try and be back with a more substantial post about different tried and true online marketing resources you can use etc. to get your business off the ground. This will be helpful for that leverage thing. You really don't want to have to spend 100 hours researching the basics online. Do yourself a favor and just get on with building your business. If you can't wait for me to post again, submit a message through my form online and I will answer you as fast as I can. Alohas!
